How to use my mobile with my laptop using Irda enabled on my mobile?

My mobile: samsung x210 which has IrDA enabled and my Laptop has bluetooth enabled. My PC is not recognising my mobile as a device when it is nearby to laptop. What are the things that I can do using IDRA and bluetooth? My laptop is Sony VAIO VGN-CR21S.

   ok, you need to connect your phone to your laptop using bluetooth

   OR

   connect your phone to your laptop using IRDA

   you can’t connect bluetooth to IRDA, you need to connect like with like

   for both they should be little icons in the bottom right hand corner of your desktop
